It was some time in March 2003 when the revival of Chris Cornell and his newly formed band Audioslave (a sign of revival of Grunge music in general at the time) inspired three old friends to join forces in a new rock band. Before that time, Georgi Fidler (drums), Miro “Mravoiada” (bass) and Bobi “Kosatkata” (vocals and guitar) had played music in various bands, some well-known to the public and others never to become known…
In the course of a typical liquor-driven session of friendly joking, they chose the name DER HUNDS (the spelling mistake was intentional – it was rooted in Fidler’s short stay in Germany and Bobi’s fondness of dogs). So there thy were - although difficult, a new beginning was born.
The band’s first concert took place at “The FANS” club on 18.12.2003 with the participation of two other bands: The Alien Jackals and Daily Noise Club. This gig was followed by monthly live shows in the “O!Shipka” club.
The closing of the “O!Shipka” club in 2005 caused a short break in the band’s series of live performances. Der Hunds took the stage again on 26.03.2007 when the band was invited to take part in the “Seattle-night 8” festival in club Alkohol, organized by Ivo “Pifa” Petrov and Adelina Evtimova. Since then they have been regular participants in all editions of the fest.
In February 2008 Wili Popov – an old fan of the band and of alternative rock - joined the band. In the summer of 2008, DER HUNDS recorded their first studio album “Blue Animals” in PACIFIC STUDIO with the kind assistance of Zhelyaz Zhelezov(Awake). The album was released in the following year - 2009.
